A Canadian Heritage study shows in 2016 the economic impact of cultural spending (festivals, live performances, visual arts, etc.) was $65m in the North Okanagan and $7.8B in BC!! The economic impact of sport in 2016 was $6.3 million in the North Okanagan and $1.2B in BC. Strong cultural and sport opportunities do great things for communities! Let's create a well-rounded community with a host of recreational and cultural amenities! https://yes4culture.ca #Yes4Culture #Coldstream #VernonBC #Okanagan #EconDev #CulturePays
Thanks to our friends at Castanet for sharing our upcoming Culture Crawl event taking place next Saturday, September 29. Come out and see some of the wonderful cultural destinations in downtown Vernon as part of Culture Days | Fête de la culture And it’s FREE!
What a great message from our friends at the Downtown Vernon Association:
"The DVA says “YES to culture”! Based on survey and solicited feedback, the DVA Board of Directors voted unanimously in favor of supporting a “yes” vote in the upcoming cultural centre referendum. The current plans are for the cultural centre to be placed on what is now known as the “Vernon Block”, right in the heart of our downtown arts corridor, firmly standing as Vernon’s top-tier cultural facility and bringing all the economic and social benefits that a structure and organization of this kind can offer". - Susan Lehman
We couldn't agree more! #voteyesforculture #oct20 #vernonbc
